Accessibility
Our commitment and how to tell us when we fall short. Last updated 1 October 2026.
We want everyone to be able to read this site, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
The standard we build to
The site is designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and AAA where practical. In practice that means:
- Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 throughout; body copy is above 12:1.
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Proper headings, landmarks and labels for screen readers.
- Touch targets of at least 44 pixels on mobile.
- Text that can be enlarged to 200% without breaking the layout.
- No autoplaying media, and animation that respects your “reduce motion” setting.
Known limitations
Images in older essays may be missing descriptive alt text. Pages written by third parties, such as Mailchimp’s signup confirmation, are outside our control.
Conformance status
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA: we believe it meets the standard, but it has not yet been audited by an independent tester. This statement was prepared on 1 October 2026 by self-assessment.
