Cookies
This site sets no cookies for readers. Last updated 1 October 2026.
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Most sites use them to track visitors or show adverts. This one does not.
Readers
Reading essays and notes, searching, and browsing topics sets no cookies at all. There is no analytics, no advertising, and nothing embedded from YouTube, X, LinkedIn or any other platform. That is why there is no cookie banner.
Subscribing
The newsletter form sends your address straight to Mailchimp, which opens its confirmation page in a new tab. Mailchimp may set its own cookies on that page; they are covered by Intuit’s privacy statement, not by this site.
Site editors
People who log in to edit the site receive WordPress’s strictly necessary login cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_test_cookie). They keep you signed in and expire when you log out or after 14 days. Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent under the ePrivacy Regulations 2011.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or embedded media, this page will list every cookie, and the site will ask for your consent before setting any that are not strictly necessary.
